In less than a week, 274 people sign the letter and join the protest.
MMoCA reaches out to Equity for Artists to discuss the situation. Equity for Artists agree to meet on the conditions that the MMoCA team meet on artists’ turf and with a group of artists, not just one representative of the movement.
On December 16, 2019, 11 MMoCA representatives and 10 artists met at Communication Madison. MMoCA CEO agreed to waive the fees, pay artists a nominal honorarium of $100, and publish a public apology letter to artists giving Equity for Artists credit for the labor and pushing the change.
